Summary |
The young guns got the early read on some tricky ice, working their way into what looked like an insurmountable lead. The highly skilled and experienced Hill team fought back with great angled raise takeout in the sixth to take a three ender. It was a tight match the rest of the way, but the come back fell short when team Hill was forced into some all or nothing shots in the ninth. A game well played by all!

A hard fought battle that should have been done in the 8th end but ended up a tie - I guess we really wanted to play 10 ends as the extra end (9th) was blanked (I don't think Adrian's sweeper - albeit a sub - was too popular!!)

Summary |
This was a match up of two teams that had just qualified for the Southern Seniors the past weekend--Congrats!! Team Rutherford used a corner guard in the first end to set up a deuce that could have been a three had it not been for a great double by Team Bailey. Team Bailey failed to blank the second end on an open hit. After blanking the third, Team Rutherford made an open draw for four after Team Bailey's last rock over-curled looking at two and raised a Team Rutherford guard into the rings. In the fifth end, Team Bailey made a nice come-around to tap a rock off the button and get the one point. In the 6th end, Team Bailey was looking at three rocks in the 12 foot and attempted a come-around to salvage the end, but the rock over-curled and racked on a guard. Team Rutherford made the open draw for four and Team Bailey decided that was enough for this night!

Summary |
An entertaining, high offense game tonight with at least a couple of ends including some rocks in play. The teams agreed to play an eight end game to ease their way back into the league after the Christmas/New Years break, and it felt at times like the teams were eager to finish those eight ends as early as possible (might be related to the hockey game on TV behind the sheet).

how do you get a 6 man team and a 5 man team to all show up for the game????
pregame meeting in the lounge that's how....because the pregame meeting went into game time...the game started in the 3rd end with team anholt using their superior negotiating skills to wrangle hammer for a 2 spot...hi-lite for team kent was "fourth thrower freddy" making 2 pistolas for 2 in end 6, which was really end 4, after team kent's negotiator jimmy m. wrangled the hammer, even after scoring 1 in the fifth end, which was actually the third end.....seems the hammer deal struck in the lounge and agreed to by ten of the eleven pregame attendees, was not a clear enough majority.....team anholt strikes with a double deuce in end seven, which was really end 5, and the postgame celebrations officially started with handshakes and protests upon protests being carried back to the lounge...
i think this is what happened anyway......
